Charlie Snyder at the Fine Arts Center had this to say about the Dutch Kitchen:
Warren … FOOD TIP … I don’t when you last featured the Dutch Kitchen, but I had a slice of pie today at lunch that was unbelievable … blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries covered in pralines. They are celebrating their 50th year this year and are still coming up with new kinds of pie that are all kinds of good. 50 years owned by the same family. A five-time Gazette Best of Winner for Best Pies.
THANKS, CHARLIE
It’s been a while since we reviewed it. Maybe time to revisit.
I would agree, a review is in order. Dutch Kitchen is a hidden gem that more people should know about. We’ve been going there for years. It’s not fancy, it’s probably not for everyone (they don’t take credit cards), but the pies are great (the Buttermilk is my favorite) and the food’s good too. I like the Flynn Special sandwich, and they make good onion rings. Be sure the taste the lemonade, made there with water from one of Manitou’s springs. It’s unique to them, I think.
